Insurgency: Sandstorm – Six more months of free content on PC announced in new roadmap

New World Interactive and Focus Home Interactiveare delighted to announce six more months of free content for Insurgency: Sandstorm on PC, outlined in today’s roadmap. Much of this content is possible thanks to the fantastic community support, with much of what’s planned coming directly from player feedback and multiple surveys.

Starting July this year, the six months of free content includes the following major additions (order of release is TBD):

  • Level editor and tools – mod support is coming!
  • Two new maps – includes a snow map and another yet to be revealed
  • Night versions of maps – this includes the release of special nighttime equipment
  • New weapons and equipment – toggleable optics, mini-shotgun attachments and more are planned, along with others based on post-launch community surveys
  • Hardcore ruleset across all modes – the option for hardcore rulesets will be made available to every game mode
  • PvP Frontline & Co-op Outpost game modes – these two new game modes were chosen in Sandstorm’s first community survey. Frontline features two teams in a tug-of-war over multiple objectives to reach and destroy their enemy’s weapon cache. Outpost allows players to go on the defensive at randomized locations against waves of enemy AI.
  • New character customization – many more cosmetics will be added, for both Insurgent and Security teams.

All this and more are aimed for release this year. For more information on the above additions and updates, have a read of the Roadmap Community Update by lead game designer Michael Tsarouhas.

Dual Universe developer surpasses $22.6M in total fundraising amidst industry-leading technological advances and international expansion

PARIS, FRANCE – June 11th, 2019 – Today, French video game developer Novaquark finalizes an additional $11.2M fundraising deal, led by Andurance Ventures and Azom Partners. This nearly doubles the company’s previous total funding as of August 2018 ($11.4M), for a total of $22.6M which includes Novaquark’s noteworthy crowdfunding revenue as the 3rd largest video game Kickstarter worldwide in 2016.

This new round of funding aims to support the development of Novaquark’s ambitious and anticipated massively multiplayer online game, Dual Universe, which seeks to revolutionize online entertainment. In contrast to the prevailing industry stance, Novaquark empowers players to create the content and the stories that populate Dual Universe’s digital world. Driven by a strong belief in the creativity of its community, Dual Universe proposes a vast sci-fi world where everything is editable, and where sprawling cities, lunar outposts, space colonies and giant space stations are entirely built by the players. The game is set to realize an old dream and deliver on the promise of an alternate virtual life, in which players all share the same world and engage in trade, warfare, exploration and social activities without being constrained by the narrative designed by the game makers.

Novaquark’s proprietary Continuous Single-Shard server technology is core to the promise of a shared digital world, hosting an unprecedented number of individuals at the same time. With its recentlysuccessful tech demonstration involving an industry record of 30,000 simulated players on the same planet, the company continues to demonstrate its ability to realize the vision behind Dual Universe. Today’s fundraising announcement highlights investors’ continued support for Novaquark’s vision to disrupt the entertainment industry, and confidence in its capacity to fulfil that vision. In order to maintain its momentum, Novaquark intends to bolster its presence in Canada by hiring at its newly created Montréal studio, becoming a part of one of the most acclaimed game development communities in the world.

Dual Universe is more than just a game, it’s a metaverse: an alternative world where millions of individuals can reinvent themselves and build a new virtual society”, says Jean-Christophe Baillie, Founder of Novaquark and Creative Director of Dual Universe. “As we continue to constantly exceed our ambitions, we are proud to share that vision with our investors, whose unwavering support will allow us to further accelerate the growth of Novaquark.”

Dual Universe is available now in its Alpha 1 phase, with Alpha 2 slated to arrive mid 2019. The beta and final release are planned for 2020 (see here for the roadmap). As the latest game in the acclaimed tactical shooter series, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts drops players into the middle of the unforgiving Siberian wilderness, forcing them to contend with their toughest challenges yet – both natural and contractual. In addition to getting a first look at its contract-based mission structure, a wide range of locales and the flexibility with which players can approach mission engagements, the debut gameplay shines a spotlight on the brand new Rivals system.

Put simply, players will never truly be alone as they take on contracts, as they encounter rival contract killers. Whether this involved removing a rival from the equation or being quick enough to beat them to the punch, players will have more variables to consider than ever before, ensuring that no two missions go down the same, all the while ratcheting up the tension.

From its in-depth single-player campaign and range of multiplayer options, to its return-to-form, intense mission-based contracts system, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts seeks to perfect the feeling of staring down a scope and planning your approach.
